You want to spend the most romantic day with your loved ones in the sun, near the ocean, with your feet in the sand while saying “I do”? It may seem like a scene from a movie, but it can also be a reality. Planning a destination wedding can be challenging but it’s not impossible. Every year more and more couples decide to throw their wedding ceremony in foreign country. Michelle and Tom are just one of the many who said their vows on the Island of Ibiza, no less.
High school sweethearts from London, Michelle and Tom got engaged two years ago and started planning their special day shortly after. They wanted a small and intimate ceremony and both agree that choosing Ibiza for its backdrop was the best decision they’ve made.
“Organizing a wedding day can prove to be quite difficult and exhausting since there is a lot of stuff to think about – wedding dress, food, location, flowers and a lot more. Things become more challenging if you and your partner decide to get married abroad in your dream destination. That is why hiring a Ibiza based wedding planner seemed like a wise move, and we would recommend this to everyone if it’s within their budget.”
Wedding preparations started when Michelle and her soon-to-be husband went on their dream destination for the first time in search for their ‘perfect match’ Ibiza wedding planner. The couple had never been on the island before, so they were not familiar with the local customs, food, legal requirements. They knew they wanted an intimate beach wedding and they needed help planning it.
“We knew we were embarking on an adventure but we weren’t expecting it to be that time-consuming. Everything is so different from home – people living on Ibiza are laid-back, we didn’t know the language or customs, food was different. There were a lot of decisions to be made and we needed professional assistance. I’m not sure if we could have arranged our Ibiza wedding down to the last detail without the help of our wedding planner, Cristina”, says Tom.
After a week on Ibiza, Michelle and Tom got all the information they needed from their planner – documentation for the ceremony, best time of the year, best caterers and top Ibiza wedding venues, but most importantly how to fly and accommodate their loved ones. Most of the final decisions were made from London via Skype and Cris, their Ibiza wedding planner, handled entire communication with the vendors. Even a local photographer was hired, so they didn’t have to fly their own to Ibiza. Eventually, the bride and the groom only took care of notifying their family and friends in time so everyone could be there.
“We wanted to celebrate our love with the people that are close to us without stressing about the details. And we did it. The whole weekend was like out of the dream, bathed with laughter and happiness. There was actually a problem with the flower arrangements at the last minute, but our planner took care of everything. We were only to enjoy our day.”
Surrounded only by their family and close friends, the couple said “I do” on the beach while watching the sunset. “I am so grateful for all the work and effort Cris and her team did to make our day such a special one – I couldn’t have asked for more romantic day”, described Michelle regarding her experience of planning an Ibiza wedding.
